Marseille, France

Marseille

France's oldest Mediterranean port, at the edge of the Calanques

Marseille is the sharpest contrast to Zurich's alpine calm on our whole network — a working Mediterranean harbour, a cruise gateway, and the doorstep of some of Europe's most dramatic coastline. Our chauffeurs cover all of it: the Vieux-Port, the cruise terminal, the airport, and the limestone inlets just beyond the city limits.

Vieux-Port

The old port

The Vieux-Port and the city around it

Marseille's old harbour has been in continuous use for over 2,600 years, and it's still the city's centre of gravity — ringed by cafés, the daily fish market, and a short walk from the Notre-Dame de la Garde basilica that watches over the whole bay. Our chauffeurs handle the narrow, one-way streets of Le Panier and the steep approach to the basilica the way we handle any dense old town: patiently, and without you circling for parking.

Excursion

The Calanques National Park

Just southeast of the city, the Calanques are a run of steep limestone inlets and turquoise water unlike anywhere else on the French coast — a genuine national park reachable by road, boat or a demanding hike, depending how much of the day you want to spend getting there. A chauffeured half-day is the easiest way in: we drop you at a trailhead or a viewpoint, wait or return at an agreed time, and you skip the parking crunch that hits the access roads every summer weekend.

Best months

April–June and September–October, cooler and quieter than midsummer

Boat excursions bookable from the Vieux-Port on request

Cruise terminal and airport, covered

Marseille is one of the Mediterranean's busiest cruise gateways, with terminals spread across the Grand Port Maritime north of the Vieux-Port — a working port, not a single easy-to-find dock, which is exactly where a chauffeur who already knows the terminal numbers saves you the most time. Flying in instead, Marseille Provence Airport sits about 25 minutes northwest of the centre, with the same flight-tracked meet & greet we run at every airport we serve.

Cruise-terminal pickups, matched to your ship's actual berth

Marseille Provence Airport (MRS) meet & greet, flight-tracked

Port-to-hotel and hotel-to-port transfers timed to embarkation
